Personal Training for Rugby and Core

In rugby you can spend quite a lot of time trying to get up off the floor and then being thrown back down. This short medicine ball drill has been inspired by these movements

By using a medicine ball that bounces, Simon travels side

ways and forwards while bouncing off of the floor.

The travel replicates that of player who is trying to push themselves forward against opposition, especially when there are many people involved in the play.

To engage you core muscles it is important to get length in to the abdominals, under pressure, while ideally moving the your amrs and legs in to an extended position. Following this immediately by shorting the legs, arms and abdominals with rapid pace, will cause a large contraction in the core against gravity that is dragging the body in the opposite direction.
